I've always wanted to try composing directly to the tape. Using the sound on sound technique like a looper pedal. It's a way of thinking about music as a movie sequence shot. Here, the repetition of the passage of the loop, alters and degrades each cycle. Time passes and this memory gradually fades.

At the end I added an extra bass tape loop, which is not recorded on the original loop. TS1_14 is the analogue version and TS1.2 is the reworked version using my usual digital tools.

have yet to translate the song titles so the artist's intentions are somewhat of a mystery to me, but the wavering surface noise creates the theme of a dialogue between music & technology before becoming invisible to my ears. this conjures memories of listening to music as a child (long before the sterility of digital media), when i rarely took notice of the hiss & pops of records, 8-tracks, tapes, & am radio because they were a normal, necessary aspect of recorded sound. nice to be back again.
